Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting in Newark Friday evening.
Essex County prosecutors say an on-duty Newark police officer was working in the area of Cedar Street at about 6:30 p.m. when he fired his gun.
Police said the officer had interrupted an armed robbery, but no arrest was made. Blood was found on the scene, however, suggesting a suspect may have been wounded before fleeing.
Investigation is continuing.
