NJ Residents Frustrated by Limited PATH Service

Sandy crippled the PATH system

Some PATH train riders are so fed up that they're leaving New Jersey.

Sandy crippled the PATH system, and it still isn't running 24 hours a day. The Hoboken line just reopened last week.

Some commuters, like Brian McCarthy, are moving out of New Jersey. McCarthy put a down payment on a Manhattan apartment. He said commuting between Hoboken and New York has become too much.

Some say the Port Authority has not been transparent enough about repairs and service changes. The agency says it plans to learn from the storm and improve its communications.

The Port Authority says the system suffered unprecedented damage and parts were completely flooded. It says the nighttime shutdowns are necessary for repair work to be completed.
