Nassau County police say 73-year-old Albert Rosen went into cardiac arrest from smoke inhalation

A Long Island homeowner was killed and his wife was injured following a house fire in Manorhaven, on Long Island.

Nassau County police say 73-year-old Albert Rosen went into cardiac arrest from smoke inhalation. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he died.

Rosen's 70-year-old wife Jan was also taken to the hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.

Officials also said a dog in the home also died.

The cause of the fire, which was reported at about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, was not immediately known. It is not believed to be suspicious in origin.

Firefighters from six departments responded to the scene.
