The MTA’s advice for people trying to get to (or around) this weekend’s big events should be a no-brainer: take the train.
The authority is encouraging commuters looking to go to the World Series games at Citi Field, the West Village Halloween parade and the TCS New York City marathon to use the city’s subway service to get to the events and avoid the roadways.
For the World Series, Mets fans can take the No. 7 train to the Mets-Willets Point station, with super express trains departing from that stop after the last out. The trains leaving the game will stop at 61st Street-Woodside, Queensboro Plaza, Court Square and all Manhattan stations.
Fans heading to a potential Game 5 on Sunday will get a special treat – with the MTA’s vintage “Train of Many Colors” ferrying commuters to the stadium at 6:30 p.m. The train features several different subway cars that were in use between 1948 and 1964.
The MTA is also warning about a weekend service suspension on the No. 1 line that could affect spectators hoping to watch the Village Halloween Parade or the TCS New York City Marathon. No No. 1 trains will run south of the West 14th Street stop, officials say, so riders are advised to use other lines.
If you’re using the roads to make it to the events, pack your patience. The city announced dozens of road closures and traffic changes for the parade and marathon.
