It's the Principle: Man Spends $7K Fighting Parking Ticket

Ticketed driver has been fighting it for 2 years

A New York City man says he has spent $7,500 while fighting a parking ticket he says was issued in error.

Back in November 2006, Simon Belsky was issued a $115 ticket for blocking a fire hydrant in Brooklyn.

But the 63-year-old retired electrical hardware firm executive says the ticket was a mistake because the only hydrant on the street was down the block.

He has been fighting the ticket for two years and has another court date in February. If he wins, Belsky says he'll file a civil suit against the city to recover the money he's spent on legal work.
