Design for Park at Hudson Yards Unveiled

The featured centerpiece is a six-story structure with 154 interconnecting staircases and 80 landings

The design of a new public space at Hudson Yards, featuring a six-story high dome of interweaving stairs, was unveiled Wednesday.

The 5-acre park will connect to the High Line and the 7 subway train when it opens in two years, officials said.

"This is for the young people," said Mayor de Blasio at the unveiling ceremony. "This is a destination of choice."

The park will also include over 28,000 plant species, 200 trees and a 200-foot-long fountain.

The featured centerpiece is the six-story structure with 154 interconnecting staircases and 80 landings, named the "Vessel." It will be about 150 feet wide at the top and overlook the greenery.
