An upstate New York doctor has been arrested on sexual abuse and other charges for allegedly touching a woman inappropriately in the presence of a child during an office visit.
Authorities say they believe 49-year-old Makar Eskarous, owner of the Imhotep Medical Clinic on Main Street in Spring Valley, abused at least three victims, and they say they believe more will come forward.
Eskarous, who specializes in general surgery, faces charges of sexual abuse, forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. He allegedly fought officers who tried to take him into custody and is charged with resisting arrest as well, officials say.
Eskarous was being held on $10,000 bail after his arraignment in Spring Valley Justice Court Thursday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
