Religious Statues Decapitated Outside New Jersey Church

The statues were outside St. Mary's Church in Franklin Township

Police are reviewing surveillance video after someone damaged eight religious statues outside a New Jersey church.

Many of the statues outside St. Mary's Church in Franklin Township were decapitated.

Officials believe the statues were vandalized between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Thursday.

Police Sgt. James Reilly tells The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill the suspect took his time and caused some damage.

"It wasn't a 30-second melee," Reilly told the paper.

Police and parishioners in the Gloucester County community say there has never been anything like it.
