Bug-Swatting Contributed to Deadly New Jersey Crash, Investigators Say

Authorities say a driver and his passenger became distracted while swatting at an insect inside their car, contributing to a fatal head-on crash.

The Ocean County prosecutor's office says the car driven by 19-year-old Dylan Magee, of Millstone, crossed the center line on Route 539 in Plumsted Township on Nov. 9 and collided with a tractor-trailer.

The passenger in the car, 18-year-old Alexander Pannizzo of Millstone, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Magee and the truck driver were taken to hospitals with injuries that were described as not life-threatening.
