The man was attempting to cross the busy highway's southbound lanes in Yonkers shortly before dawn when he was hit by a car.

The man, whose identity hasn't yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene after the impact, and the southbound lanes of the highway were closed for about two hours following the crash.
