A car smashed into an MTA bus in Brooklyn and left seven people hurt, according to officials, after the vehicle allegedly sped away from a police stop.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. near the corner of Avenue N and McDonald Avenue in Midwood, said FDNY officials. Police were flagged after a person claimed to have seen someone inside the car with a gun, according to law enforcement sources.

Officers went to stop the car but the driver sped away, law enforcement sources told NBC New York. The driver crashed into the bus not long after that, sources said.

Seven people in total were taken to nearby hospitals as a result, including three people in the car and the driver of the bus, sources said. Firefighters had to remove two passengers who got trapped inside the car. All of the injuries were said to be minor.

When the driver took off, it led to a brief pursuit by police, but it was quickly called off before the crash, sources said.

The driver of the car was taken into custody. Details on the charges were not immediately released. An investigation is ongoing.
