A driver died and a passenger was in critical condition following a fiery car crash in upper Manhattan, the NYPD said.
Police responding to a 911 call around 4 a.m. on Sunday found a Toyota Camry overturned and on fire inside Trinity Church Cemetery, near West 155th Street and Riverside Drive, the NYPD said.
A 37-year-old male passenger was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.
The female driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Police didn't immediately release her name or age.
A preliminary investigation found the driver was going the wrong way on 155th Street when she hit an unoccupied car, crashed through a brick wall and plunged around 20 feet into the cemetery, the NYPD said.
The car landed upside down, according to police.

A witness told News 4 he saw the crash happen.
“I immediately run over… and I see the car catch ablaze, a guy crawling out… he’s yelling for help, yelling for help, so I immediately called 911,” he said. “I didn’t know if there [was] anybody inside, but it was a tragic situation.”
The NYPD is looking into whether last night’s rainy, icy weather could have played a role in the crash.
