After a fierce campaign against her by PETA and Co., Donna Karan is no longer showing fur. The fall 2009 collection she showed this afternoon included long-hair shearling used for gauntlets (which are essentially oversize arm warmers), coats, and floppy cowl collars. Anna Wintour sat front-row looking rather pleased (for her). She eyed the shearling pieces fondly, but kept darting her gaze downward at the shoes: studded-leather open-toe sandals that must have been at least five inches high. Jourdan Dunn almost tripped twice on her second turn down the runway in a clingy floor-length espresso silk-and-viscose jersey dress. Maintaining composure, she stopped to untangle her garment from the heels and finished her walk unscathed.
Post-show, we noticed Rachel Zoe dilly-dallying on the runway with her assistant Brad, sans the Bravo camera crew. First, we died. Then we coolly approached her and requested an interview. She asked where we were from, and upon learning that we were from New York, she politely declined, citing specifically that the Cut always twists stories and writes "nasty things" about her. But she was sweet as pie, and reassured us it was nothing personal. Though we were disappointed not to have gotten a signature on our "I die. Bananas." T-shirt, it's good to know she's reading.
