The new collection, presented at a contemporary art space in Chelsea (strange glossy sculptures included) is an experiment in American fashion iconography -- from nautical stripes to military details and good ol' fashioned Grace Kelly glam.
The designers, Benjamin Channing Clyburn and Sonia Yoon, said it was a tribute to American fashion in its sometimes most campy form -- sort of like how foreigners see American fashion, Sonia explained. That would explain the poufy asymmetrical dress covered in polka dots, which was actually the designers' favorite piece. Overall, the separates were the real stand-outs -- and sure to be retail-friendly -- from cropped leather jackets with asymmetrical zippers to crisp striped skirts.
