While we will have to wait until next fall to nab the clothes we saw at New York Fashion Week, we can immediately start experimenting with funky new beauty and hair trends. Our favorite look of the fall '13 season was easily the braided half-ponytail at Rodarte (accented with a thin gold headband), which felt appropriately high-school given the designers' '80s tween-spiration, but sophisticated enough to rock at work.

One of the most attainable beauty looks to emerge on the fall '13 catwalks was the matte off-white manicure at Alexander Wang, which felt cool and edgy but still do-able at home (tip: for nail art novices, a matte-finish top coat can recreate the dull, diffused effect).

Loose, unkempt locks and bronzed smokey shadow were a perfect counter to Altuzarra's rigid, military looks. Best of all? No shampoo required.

Loose, texturized chignons with extreme side parts were a major beauty theme on the fall '13 catwalks. At Rag & Bone the look added schoolgirl charm to structured, sporty silhouettes.

At Richard Chai, the chignon look was finished with dark blue-grey lids and defined brows.

Perfectly timed for the Costume Institute's upcoming "Chaos to Couture" exhibit, Marc Jacobs gave ladylike looks a touch of punk with the addition of tousled Joan Jet wigs and charcoal grey shadow.

With a penchant for '60s glam, it's no surprise that Michael Kors sent models out with bouncy high ponytails and dramatic black cat-eyes for fall '13.

At Jason Wu, shiny slicked-back ponytails were accented with edgy purple shadow swept up at the corners into a soft cat-eye shape.

Looks like this year's oxblood lipstick trend isn't going anywhere; at Phillip Lim, models were given messy side-parts and deep burgundy puckers.

The shiny orange-red puckers at Band of Outsiders added a feminine flourish to the collection's rigid tailoring and moody black and grey palette.
