Michael Phelps Celebrates Eight Golds Medals On Sports Illustrated Cover

He has two Kellogg’s cereal box covers in his future, as Access Hollywood exclusively revealed last night, but before fronting his Olympic record-breaking frame on the breakfast aisle, Michael Phelps has become a Sports Illustrated cover star once again.

Phelps, who became the winningest Olympian in the history of the games after he scored eight gold medals in Beijing, makes his fifth appearance as an SI cover star to celebrate his achievement with the magazine’s August 25 issue.

“He broke a record every time he went into the water,” Sports Illustrated Group Editor Terry McDonell said in a statement. “He won eight gold medals all on heart, ability and courage, nothing more needs to be said.”

Phelps posed on August 17 in Beijing for the cover with his record breaking eight gold medals, mirroring a pose struck by swimming legend Mark Spitz, who previously held the record for most gold records in one Olympic Games, with seven.
