Talib Kweli, Res Plan Album, Show This Weekend

Talib Kweli's partnership with singer-songwriter Res is set to release its first LP on Nov. 1.

The duo, known as Idle Warship, is also planning some show dates together, starting Saturday at Restoration Rocks Music Festival on Fulton Street between New York and Brooklyn avenues in Brooklyn.

Their album is called Habits of the Heart, according to Rolling Stone, which has an exclusive stream of "Rat Race."

"We're just challenging ourselves to see if we can make upbeat dance music without sacrificing our artistic integrity," Kweli told Rolling Stone.

"People look at me as underground hip-hop artist and at Res as a neo-soul singer," Kweli goes on, "but the combination of our influences is so much greater than the boxes that people put us in."

Rolling Stone reports that Kweli and Res are also planning solo releases in 2012. Kweli's Prisoner of Conscience features Mos Def, Seu Jorge, Kendrick Lamar, Curren$y and Melanie Fiona. Res is working on an album called Reset and an EP of Fleetwood Mac covers, called ReFriedMac.
