Young Runners Descend on Washington Heights for Jamboree

New York City's most enthusiastic young runners headed to the New York Road Runners Youth Jamboree Saturday, competing in a variety of track and field events at the Armory in Washington Heights.

The event was part of NYRR's youth runners' program, which aims to foster healthy and fit children through free running programs, resources, and activities in schools.

One of those programs is the Mighty Milers program, profiled recently on Go Healthy New York. Three winners in the 55-meter dash, pictured here, are part of the program.

Over 2,000 children participated in the day-long Jamboree at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory, according to the NYRR.
