Equinox Takes Old Tower Records Space; Macy's Getting Revamped

And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) Midtown West: After catching on fire a few times in recent months, the Herald Square Macy's will be getting a massive renovation, including the facade and entrances and perhaps some glassitecture to show passersby the goodies inside.

2) Chelsea: It looked like the upcoming Upper West Side Trader Joe's might beat its Chelsea sibling to opening day, but a Racked tipster spies checkout counters already set up inside the Chelsea store space (above), a hint that it might open first.

3) Noho/Central Village: The former Tower Records space on East 4th Street and Lafayette will soon be home to...an Equinox. Better/worse than the previous occupants?
