Art-As-Store: Timed to coincide with Paris Fashion…

Timed to coincide with Paris Fashion Week, The Museum of the City of New York is hosting an exhibit about NYC's relationship to that big fashion metropolis across the Atlantic. It focuses on the years between 1925 and 1940, and it sounds kind of amazing. "The show's design, by Pure & Applied, centers on a passageway of red and black vitrines that resemble department-store counters. The retail allusion works, and not just because the objects on display are often jewelry, shoes, furniture and evening gowns...while invention and ingenuity are among its themes, so is the power of the fad, which is infatuation multiplied." Ingenuity! Fads! Paris in the '30s! Yes please. [NYT]For more stories from Racked, go to racked.com.
