3/13-14: Brooklyn Mutt Show, Paula Abdul x Vampires…

Purebreeds take a back seat to mixes at the Brooklyn Mutt Show this weekend.

OPPOSITES ATTRACT: “Straight Up Vampire: The History of Vampires in Colonial Pennsylvania as Performed to the Music of Paula Abdul" comes to Joe’s Pub. Yes, you read correctly. A couple things: 1) This sounds awesome, 2) Paula Abdul will not be performing at this mashup (despite how awesome it sounds), and 3) The “Twilight” series and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” have an awful lot to answer for. Directed by Peter James Cook, with Nick Jones (note: that’s Jones, not Jonas), the O'Debra Twins, and Corn Mo as Benjamin Franklin (!). Saturday, 11:30PM.

PERSUASION: And speaking of Jane Austen, this is the last weekend to take in the exhibit “A Woman's Wit: Jane Austen's Life and Legacy” at the Morgan Library, a motherlode of Austenalia including more than 100 manuscripts, personal letters, and related materials (like a note in her had that reads “"I have read [Byron’s] The Corsair, mended my petticoat, and have nothing else to do”). Saturday 10AM-6PM, Sunday 11AM-6PM.
