Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has branched out over the past year. Having launched a line of men's neckwear, the nine-time NBA All-Star and three-time champion has entered the entertainment industry by selling a half-hour sitcom he co-created to Fox through Sony Pictures Television.

The project, called "Three the Hard Way," is inspired by Wade's experience as a divorced father as well as his New York Times bestseller, "A Father First." The main character, Daryl Wade, is an NBA superstar who leans on his group of eccentric friends when he gains custody of his two sons.

Wade and co-creator Mike Tollin sold the project to Fox earlier this year. They then collaborated with Justin Lin and Perfect Storm Entertainment (PSE), as well as writer and executive producer Ben Watkins.

"Three the Hard Way" is the first TV project for Wade's ZZ Productions.

Wade has expressed many times how important he feels his role as a father is in his life. It was the subject of his book, "A Father First," which chronicles the lessons he has learned as a single father of young boys.

"My life is revolved around being a great father,” he said shortly after the release of the book. "My boys are my everything. If you are blessed to have children, that is how it should be."
