Police Hunt for Attempted Rapist in Riverside Park

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries

The NYPD is searching for a man who tried to rape a woman while she jogged through Riverside Park.

The 24-year-old victim was jogging along a wooded path inside Riverside Park, between West 125th and West 122nd Streets, when the suspect approached her from behind and began to choke her.
 
The suspect then threw the victim to the ground and attempted to rape her, but stopped when witnesses in the area emerged.
 
The victim was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
 
The suspect is described as being between 35 and 40 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall and around 180 pounds. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a blue baseball hat and backpack, both with a Nike swoosh logo.
