Cardinal Dolan Joins Twitter, Tweets a Tebow Joke

New York City's top Catholic jokes about Tim Tebow, poked fun at himself in his first tweets

Archbishop Timothy Dolan has taken his words of wisdom from the altar to the internet by signing up for Twitter.

And he kicked things off with a joke, not a prayer.

"Hey everybody. It's Timothy Cardinal Tebow. I mean Dolan," @CardinalDolan tweeted, referring to the Jets star. He created the Twitter page during his radio show, which airs on SiriusXM's Catholic Channel.

Dolan picked up more than 3,000 followers in less than 24 hours, and in his latest tweet doled out some spiritual wisdom

"Every person or institution will eventually let us down. Our ultimate trust must be in God and we will never be disappointed," he wrote.

Pope Benedict XIV joined Twitter in February but the account is run by a Vatican media team.

A spokesman for Dolan said Wednesday that the archbishop approves all of the tweets under his account, but doesn't actually tweet on his own.
