Although 2011 had no shortage of political scandals and slip-ups, the top prize goes to former sexting congressman Anthony Weiner.

Yahoo! is out with its annual round-up of top stories and trends based on its search engines and in the category of “Top Political Scandals,” Weiner comes out on “top.” The rest of the list went as follows:

    2. Arnold Schwarzenegger
    3. John Edwards
    4. Herman Cain
    5. Silvio Berlusconi
    6. Kwame Kilpatrick
    7. Dominique Strauss-Kahn
    8. David Wu
    9. John Ensign
    10. Chris Lee

The married Weiner, a Democrat from Queens, resigned his seat in June and admitted that he had sent sexually explicit photos and messages to six women.

Yahoo! says its result are based on “nearly 700 million monthly unique visitors[i] activity on the network and billions of consumer searches,” according to a release. “

The scandal wasn’t, however, enough to make Weiner Yahoo!’s “Top Politician Searches,” the top spot of which went to Sarah Palin, followed by Barack Obama in second.
