Turtle Found in L.I. Pierced With Nail

An eastern box turtle was found pierced with a 10-penny nail in Sag Harbor on July 5. Investigators are offering a $1,000 reward in the case.

The Suffolk County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is hoping to find out who drove a nail through an eastern box turtle.

Investigators say the turtle was found in Sag Harbor on July 5.

The turtle is now being cared for by the Wildlife Rescue Center of Hampton Bays and is expected to make a full recovery.

The SPCA is offering a $1,000 reward for information in the case.
