A building was evacuated and subways were halted after a transformer fire near 34th Street in Manhattan Wednesday.

Service on the 1 and 3 lines was suspended between 14th and 42nd Street after the fire was reported just before noon, and a building on Seventh Avenue at 34th Street was evacuated.

Service was later restored, but riders were warned to expect delays.
