2 People and a Dog Stabbed in Gang-Related Attacks in Queens: Police

A teenager, a 23-year-old man and a dog were recovering from stab wounds Sunday after they were attacked by men in Queens who taunted them about a street gang.

The 16-year-old victim was approached at about 7 p.m. Saturday in Jackson Heights by the two men who asked him about ABK, the acronym of a local gang, the "Always Banging Kings." When the teen told them he has nothing to do with gangs, one of the men stabbed him in the abdomen, investigators said.

The other man stabbed the teen's dog in the back.

The teen and his dog were taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center and both were expected to survive their wounds.

Less than two hours later, the 23-year-old man was approached in the same neighborhood by a man who asked him whether he liked the ABK, police said. He too was stabbed and taken to Elmhurst hospital. Information about his condition wasn't available.

The 16-year-old victim, who was in a hospital Sunday, is terrified, according to his mom, who sent cropped photos of him taken from his bedside at the hospital. She said she's afraid her son will be attacked again.

Workers in local stores saw some of the aftermath.

"I'm scared. I can't go outside," convenience store worker Jimmy Cheng said.

"I went outside and I saw somebody bleeding," deli worker Sam Al-Lahabi said.

Al-Lahabi says gang activity is a reality in Jackson Heights.

"You can say it's hot [here]," he said.

People in the community said they want the police to figure out what this gang is all about and to stop them.

"The police gotta come and track down all these kids that are doing all these crazy things 'cause it's not getting any easier in NYC," resident Julio Calaballo said.
