Psych Exam Ordered for Taxi Carjack Suspect

A man accused of hailing a cab and then dragging the driver out and taking the taxi on a joyride that ended in a crash is being held for a psychiatric exam.

Michael Findley shouted out legal questions, declared he was "a flesh and blood man" and "not a corporation" and tried to fire his appointed lawyer as he was arraigned Wednesday.

He faces charges including robbery, assault and drunken driving. The 31-year-old was arraigned via video from a hospital stretcher.

Police say Findley hailed the taxi in Manhattan at around 3 a.m. Sunday. A court complaint says he was belligerent and spilled food before hauling the driver out of his seat and punching him.

Police say Findley then sped through the neighborhood at more than 55 mph. He crashed in Union Square.
