City to Shut Down Broken Water Main

The water main break, on Manhattan's East Side near 111th Street, did not impact customers

City crews are shutting down a 14-inch water main in Manhattan after it broke Monday, officials said.

The water main break, on Manhattan's East Side near 111th Street, did not impact customers, said Chris Gilbride, a spokesman for the Department of Environmental Protection.

The main goes to Randall's and Wards islands and runs under the river, Gilbride said.

Traffic should not be affected.
