Attackers Steal Teen's Pants, Beat Him Unconscious on L Train: NYPD

Authorities are looking for the group of attackers who they say asked a 16-year-old boy what gang he was in, then beat him unconscious and stole his pants, sneakers and cellphone when he said he wasn't in one.

Police say the teen was attacked by a group at about 3:30 p.m. Friday on a Canarsie-bound L train near the Broadway Junction station in East New York.

A group of males approached the teen and asked him what gang he was in. When he said he wasn't in a gang, police say they pounced him.

Authorities say the group pulled the teen off the train at the Atlantic Avenue station and continued the assault. The teen was knocked unconscious, and the suspects took his phone, sneakers and jeans before leaving.

Amateur video of the attack obtained by the Daily News shows the victim on the ground as a gaggle of attackers surround him. The teen lays motionless on the platform as the attackers run away, and another group of people pull him onto a train car. Once the teen is on the train car, he appears to come to.

The teen was taken to the hospital with a concussion and a severe injury to his eye.

Police released surveillance images of two of the suspects (see above) and asking anyone with information to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
