75-Year-Old Man Beaten Unconscious in Apparently Random Attack in Greenwich Village: NYPD

A 75-year-old man was beaten unconscious in Greenwich Village, apparently at random, and police have arrested a man and a woman in the attack.

The victim was in front of a building on West 14th Street Wednesday when a man punched him in the back of his head and then knocked him to the ground, video shows.

The man then kicked him in the face, knocking him out, police said. A woman stood by as a lookout as the beating took place.

The elderly man was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital with a cut to his head and was listed in stable condition.

After releasing surveillance images of the suspects Wednesday, police arrested 20-year-old Deangelo Coleman of Chicago and 19-year-old Brianna Crusade, who police say is homeless.

Coleman smiled at reporters as he was led from the police station after his arrest and said "I apologize." Crusade said, "I'm sorry, I don't talk to the press."

It's not clear if they have attorneys who could comment.
