Livery Cab Driver Slashed in Robbery Attempt in Washington Heights: NYPD

Police are looking for a livery cab passenger who allegedly slashed the driver in Manhattan before the driver got away, authorities say.

The suspect got into the cab on Broadway between West 142nd and West 143rd streets at about 3 a.m. Sept. 4, police said. When the cab arrived in front of 674 West 163rd St., the passenger showed a knife and demanded the driver's money and car keys.

The cabbie and the would-be robber struggled with one another, and the cabbie was cut on the forehead, arm and finger, according to police.

The suspect got out of the car and again demanded the car keys through the driver's open window, but the driver was able to drive away.

Police said the victim went to Columbia University Medical Center and was treated for his injuries and released.
