A Long Island motorist has been arrested on charges that he was drunk while operating his car with his toddler inside.
Newsday reports police arrested 26-year-old Matthew Langhorn on Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child under Leandra's Law.
They say he was driving west on Sunrise Highway when he got into an accident around 10:15 p.m.
Police say Langhorn swerved and hit a guardrail while trying to avoid a car that had suddenly stopped in front of him.
They say his girlfriend and their 18-month-old daughter were passengers in his car. They were all treated at a hospital and released.
It wasn't immediately known if Langhorn had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
