I-95 Crash Causes Extensive Delays

Northbound lanes of the New England Thruway were closed for hours Friday morning between Exit 21 in Westchester County and the Connecticut state line due to an accident.

They say the truck and car collided at 2:30 a.m. Friday in Rye near a ramp where I-287 and I-95 meet.

Traffic from I-95 northbound was diverted off Exit 21. Traffic from I-287 eastbound was diverted to I-95 southbound.

The thruway lanes were reopened by 8:30 a.m. but traffic was still moving slowly.

Police say multiple injuries were reported but it wasn't immediately known how many people were taken to hospitals.

Some traffic was being allowed on the shoulder in the area of the accident but it's moving very slowly.
