7 Break-ins in 2 Weeks Has Long Island Town on Edge

Authorities are investigating a rash of burglaries and attempted burglaries in one Long Island town over the last two weeks. 

Police say all the break-ins in Yaphank happened in the overnight to early-morning hours between Aug. 12 and Aug. 24. In two cases, a thief entered homes through unlocked windows and stole money, an iPhone and food.

Cash was stolen in another case.

In four cases, homeowners reported the screens on their doors or windows had been cut but no one came inside.

No arrests have been made.
