Young Girl Snatched From Bedroom, Sexually Assaulted by Intruder: Police

Authorities in Connecticut are searching for a man who they say took a young girl from her bedroom and sexually assaulted her earlier this month.

Police say the girl was sleeping in her bed in a New Britain home on August 16 when a man entered a bedroom she shared with two other children through an unlocked window.

Police say the man took her outside, touched her inappropriately and then brought her back home. Police say the two other children in the bedroom were asleep when the child was taken.

After an adult in the home realized what happened, police were notified. But they say the suspect is still on the loose. He is described as being between 20 and 50 years old with a dark beard, dark eyes, short hair and an accent.

Concern is mounting among parents in the area as the investigation enters its 11th day.

"I’m worried because I have my kids," said Marcie Haran, a New Britain resident and mother of three.

New Britain police and the Connecticut Forensics Laboratory are investigating.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Det. Lopa at 860-826-3155 or make an anonymous tip by calling 860-826-3199.
