The former acting boss of the Genovese crime family and two associates have been sentenced to life in prison.

Arthur Nigro, along with Fotios Geas and Ty Geas, were sentenced Monday in federal court in Manhattan.

The men were convicted in April. U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says the men were convicted of multiple crimes including the 2003 murder-for-hire of Springfield, Mass., mob boss Adolfo "Big Al'' Bruno, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Bharara says Nigro became the acting boss of the Genovese family in the early 2000s.

Judge Kevin Castel also ordered Nigro to forfeit $234,000, Fotios Geas to forfeit $120,000 and Ty Geas to forfeit $135,000.
