Fast-Moving Blaze Engulfs NJ Home

About a dozen people were displaced after a three-alarm blaze im New Jersey forced them from their beds in the middle of the night, and three firefighters were injured putting out the flames.

The blaze erupted in a windowless basement in a three-story home on Grove Street in Perth Amboy at about 3 a.m., according to fire authorities.

All 11 people in the home that was on fire got out safely; five people in a neighboring home affected by the flames also escaped.

One firefighter got hurt trying to help a disoriented firefighter out of the building, authorities said. The firefighter who became disoriented is still in the hospital, according to officials, and a third firefighter was hurt when he sprained his ankle.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
