Victim Tysha Jones (inset, left) is seen with her sister. Five people were shot after two gunmen opened fire on the Brighton Beach Boardwalk June 9. Jones was pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital.
Family and friends gathered Friday in East Harlem to remember the 16-year-old girl who was killed when gunfire erupted on the Brighton Beach boardwalk.
Tysha Jones died in the melee Thursday and four others were shot when two gunmen opened fire on the crowded boardwalk.
Police say an altercation led to the shooting, and that it appears to be gang-related. But they also say the intended target was not among the five people shot.
Jones was shot under the left armpit and died at Coney Island Hospital.
Police were questioning some people but declined to say whether they were potential suspects. No arrests have been made.
