No Indictment Decision in Egyptian Businessman's Hotel Maid Case

Prosecutors are getting more time to investigate the case against an Egyptian businessman accused of sexually abusing a New York City hotel maid.

Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar had been due to find out Friday whether he was indicted. But his lawyer agreed to give prosecutors more time to investigate.

He's free on $25,000 bail and due back in court Aug. 23.

The 74-year-old chairman of state-run salt production firm El-Mex Salines Co. was arraigned Tuesday on initial charges including sexual abuse. The former Bank of Alexandria chairman denies the allegations.

Prosecutors have said he grabbed the housekeeper and groped her breasts and buttocks, kissed her, and ground his groin against her leg.
