Some neighbors in Brooklyn are having a political war of words on their windows ahead of the presidential election.

A Bay Ridge resident has been flying a Trump flag from his parking garage across the street from his home, and in response, his 35-year-old neighbor posted on his own window a cardboard cutout reading "Ew" with an arrow pointing to the flag next door, DNAInfo reports

The neighbor, Michael Byrnes, told the news website: "The garage could be mistaken for mine since it's right next to my house. I didn't want anyone seeing me come out of that house and think that was my garage and my flag."

Byrnes, a U.S. Navy submarine veteran originally from Breezy Point, Queens, said he's not affiliated with a political group and plans to vote for Green Party candidate Jill Stein.

The owner of the Trump flag, lifelong Bay Ridge resident Clifford Jacobs, 62, told DNAInfo he has gotten complaints about the flag from family, neighbors and passersby, but he refuses to remove it.

"I can't take it down because it would be giving in," he said. "It seems like a lot of people just want to shut you down 'till you agree with them, or they don't want to hear or see other opinions."

Jacobs said he's found two pieces of cardboard reading "racist" in his mailbox on two separate occasions in the last month.

He says he plans to keep his flag up until Election Day.
