Someone Threw This Little Dog Out With Their Trash in Manhattan, Police Say

Police are asking for the public's help in finding the seemingly soulless person who tossed a little dog out with the trash on the Lower East Side.

The pup was rescued from a trash compactor outside a Jackson Street apartment building after a maintenance worker noticed it in the garbage last week, police said Wednesday. It wasn't clear how long the little black-and-brown Chihuahua had been in the garbage before it was saved Thursday, but police said it appeared to be in good health and was in the care of the ASPCA.

Authorities released a photo of the dog and the trash bin and asked anyone with information to call 800-577-TIPS. A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
