“Jersey Shore” Cast Member Deena Cortese Arrested

Police Chief Tommy Boyd tells NBC 4 New York that one of his officers arrested Deena Cortese after seeing her "a little intoxicated"

A cast member for the MTV reality show "Jersey Shore" was arrested in Seaside Heights Sunday afternoon on a disorderly conduct charge.

Police Chief Tommy Boyd tells NBC 4 New York that one of his officers arrested Deena Cortese, 25, after seeing her "a little intoxicated."

She and other cast members were in a Mexican restaurant before Cortese allegedly went into the roadway and began dancing and impeding traffic.

That's when Patrolman Chris Linnel spotted her in the middle of a street, slapping cars that were driving by, the police chief said.

"Nothing major, but we can't put up with it," said Boyd.

He said Cortese was taken to the Seaside Heights police station to be served a summons and then released to her mother.

Cortese could face a fine up to $500 and up to 30 days in jail.

The show started shooting its newest season in the last week and has put Seaside Heights on the map over the past few years.

But Boyd added, "We don't treat the cast differently than anyone else."

A publicist for the show said MTV does not comment on series in production.
