A crash involving a truck and a minivan near Newark's downtown has left one person dead, two injured and a horrific accident scene.

The Star-Ledger reports that a plumbing truck apparently barreled into a minivan on Springfield and Morris avenues, shearing it in half.

The Essex County Prosecutor's office says a passenger in the minivan was killed and the drivers of both vehicles are being treated at a Newark hospital.

The newspaper reports that the intersection was strewn with body parts, which rescue workers covered in white sheets.

The minivan had New York license plates, according to the Star-Ledger.
