She was crossing Broadway late Thursday night.

A prominent jazz vocalist from Italy was killed late Thursday when she was hit by a car as she crossed Broadway.

Daniela D'Ercole, 32, was crossing Broadway at 106th Street just before midnight when she was hit.

Police said a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer hit her. The driver remained at the scene and police said no criminality is suspected.

According to her website, D'Ercole released her first album in 2008. She began her musical career at age 7 as a singer on a television broadcast called "Piccoli Fans."

D'Ercole wrote on her website that her music on her latest album "is intentionally heterogeneous, emblematic of the connection of my past, present and future. I would like my music to give people hope. This is my greatest desire."
