A Queens father is accused of strangling his 8-year-old son before trying to kill himself at their home Sunday night.
Prosecutors say the 41-year-old father called 911 at around 10 p.m., asking for an ambulance for himself and his son.
When EMS and NYPD arrived at the one-bedroom apartment on the first floor of a Fresh Meadows building, they found the child dead on the bed with marks on his neck, and the father with cuts on his wrist.
The father allegedly told EMS and police in the ambulance that he had choked his son and then tried to kill himself.
The father was taken to Queens General Hospital in stable condition. He is charged with murder.
