A Staten Island man whose wife was found dead in her home has been taken into custody, a police source confirms.

Eva Rubin, 63, was found strangled in her bedroom in their Crafton Avenue home, police said.  Investigators said they were looking to question Rubin's husband, Arthur Rubin, but could not find him.

Police sources told NBC New York that Rubin was taken into custody for questioning Tuesday evening.

Law enforcement officials said the couple's son-in-law discovered the body and called police.

One source told NBC New York the son-in-law went to check on Eva Rubin after receiving a call from the husband allegedly stating "I am sorry for what I did."
