The Coast Guard airlifted a 66-year-old woman from a cruise ship off New Jersey and brought her to the hospital after crew members called to report a passenger experiencing heart failure, authorities said.

The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue team to the 952-foot Carnival cruise ship Splendor about 20 miles east of Toms River after personnel reported the medical emergency shortly before 1 a.m.

The woman with the heart condition and a nurse were taken by helicopter to Jersey Shore Medical Center, where the woman was listed in stable condition.
