Cops Nab “Prolific Cat Burglar” on Long Island

He allegedly burglarized homes during the night while the homeowners were sleeping

Authorities have arrested a man accused of six burglaries and one attempted break-in on Long Island's South Shore.

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said Errol Barham Jr. was in custody Tuesday.

He said the 22-year-old also is suspected of at least 10 other burglaries.

The "prolific cat burglar" allegedly burglarized homes during the night while the homeowners were sleeping, according to Newsday.

Authorities say some of the stolen items -- jewelry, laptops, cameras and cash -- were recovered from a local pawn shop and at the suspect's Copiague home.

Barham is charged with burglary, attempted burglary and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He's being held on $70,000 cash bail.

It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
